Call For Papers
Aims and scope Computational Statistics (CompStat) is an international journal that promotes the publication of applications and methodological research in Computational Statistics and Data Science. The focus of papers in CompStat is on the contribution to and influence of computing on statistics and vice versa with special attention to contributions analyzing complex data sets. The journal provides a forum for computer scientists, mathematicians, and statisticians in a variety of fields of statistics such as biometrics, econometrics, big data analysis, functional data analysis, image analysis, spatial data analysis, graphics, simulation, algorithms, knowledge-based systems, non/semi-parametrics, and Bayesian computing. CompStat publishes package reports and software articles.

Special Issues
Special Issue on Data Science for Sustainable Sports - Building a Sustainable Future for SportsSubmission Date: 2026-05-31Following the success of the Special Issue on “Sports Data Science”, we now recognize the growing importance of sustainability – encompassing social, environmental, and economic dimensions – within the sports industry. Building on our recognition of this vital area, we invite researchers to contribute to a special issue dedicated to "Data Science for Sustainable Sports - Building a Sustainable Future for Sports." We encourage the submission of articles that explore advanced statistical models and algorithms applied to sports analytics, with a specific emphasis on addressing the social, environmental, and economic impacts of the sector. Submissions should showcase how data science can be leveraged to create a more sustainable future for sports, fostering inclusivity and accessibility while minimizing the environmental footprint of sporting events. Contributions should detail significant advancements, innovative methodologies, and practical, real-world applications within the realm of sustainable sports data analysis. We welcome research that combines theoretical rigor with practical implementation across a wide spectrum of sports disciplines, both professional and non-professional. Priority will be given to submissions that show novelty in proposed methods and practical relevance in their applications. All submissions must utilize statistical techniques implemented with the highest standards of accuracy, whether newly developed within the paper or previously established but applied to novel sports-related sustainability contexts. Submissions should clearly articulate how these models generate significant new insights into the sustainability challenges and opportunities within the analyzed sport. To facilitate reproducibility and knowledge sharing, authors are strongly encouraged to provide access to data and software resources as electronic supplements to their submissions. Topics: This special issue seeks to bring together articles focusing on (but not limited to): * Analysis of energy consumption in sports facilities and events * Development of data-driven strategies for promoting inclusivity and accessibility in sports participation * Assessment of the social and economic impacts of sports on local communities * Analysis of player health and safety with a focus on long-term well-being and injury prevention * Optimization of resource allocation for sustainable sports development. Guest Editors: Pierpaolo D’Urso, Sapienza Università di Roma, Italy Michele Gallo, Università di Napoli L’Orientale, Italy Paola Zuccolotto, University of Brescia, Italy Key Dates: Date of opening for the submissions: 01 October 2025 Date of closing for the submissions: 31 May 2026
