Briefings in Bioinformatics is an international, interdisciplinary journal serving researchers and educators across the life sciences, as well as mathematicians, statisticians, computer scientists, and clinicians applying their expertise to biological problems. The journal publishes reviews, new methods, case studies, and opinion articles focused on the use of databases and analytical tools in contemporary genetics, molecular biology, and systems biology.

Articles range from introductory overviews to detailed protocols and analyses, supporting both novice and expert readers. The journal’s scope includes, but is not limited to, sequence analysis, genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, structural bioinformatics, systems biology, and clinical and translational bioinformatics. It also covers emerging technologies such as single-cell and spatial omics, and AI/ML applications including deep learning in biomedicine. Submissions are welcomed from studies involving human data, model organisms (bacteria, plants, fungi, animals), and cross-species analyses, with a strong commitment to reproducibility and open science practices.
