Special Issue on Intelligent Systems and Signal Processing in Healthcare Technologies

This special issue will be a collection of articles dealing with advanced signal processing and artificial intelligence methods applied to biomedical engineering problems. Researchers working on computer-aided medical diagnostic and/or decision-making systems utilizing state-of-the-art machine and deep learning methods are invited to submit their results to this special issue. Authors of selected papers presented at the 2025 Medical Technologies Congress——TIPTEKNO’25 will also be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for this Special Issue in Electronics and Signal Processing Journal. Special Issue on Advances in Piezotronics and Piezo-phototronics Devices: Exploring Physical Mechanism, Applications and Innovations

This special issue invites comprehensive contributions on the latest advancements in piezotronics and piezo-phototronics devices, emphasizing their fundamental principles, innovative applications, and integration with other semiconductor technologies. We seek original research and review articles that delve into the physics and engineering of piezoelectric materials, highlighting how mechanical stress can modulate electronic and optical properties to enhance device performance. Submissions should explore a variety of applications, including but not limited to high-sensitivity sensors for pressure, acceleration, and biological signals; actuators for precision motion control; and energy harvesting systems that convert mechanical energy into electrical power. We are particularly interested in articles that discuss the use of piezotronics devices in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS), as well as their roles in medical devices, environmental monitoring, and wearable technology. In the realm of piezo-phototronics, we welcome papers on the development of advanced LEDs, lasers, and photodetectors that leverage piezoelectric effects to achieve superior performance. Additionally, contributions that examine the integration of piezoelectric materials with optical modulators and sensors for high-speed communication and precise optical sensing are highly encouraged. Through this special issue, we aim to showcase the interdisciplinary nature of piezotronics and piezo-phototronics research and its potential to drive innovation across multiple technology sectors.
