Special Issue on Advances in Precision Manufacturing and Instrumentation Technologies
Submission Date: 2026-05-31

The concept of precision manufacturing and instrumentation technologies initially emerged in the industrial and mechanical engineering sector. It is generally acknowledged that in the manufacturing and related sectors over the past decades, traditional approaches in precision manufacturing and the utilization of instrumentation technologies have had their limitations. For example, the implementation of advanced manufacturing procedures is often inconsistent or incomplete. The information regarding the long-term performance and reliability of manufacturing processes and instrumentation systems is often projected rather than accurately measured. The potential risks associated with the long-term use of these technologies are not fully considered, and the overall costs related to system upgrades and optimizations are not adequately addressed. However, there is a growing recognition among industry professionals and researchers. They understand that appropriate advancements in precision manufacturing and instrumentation technologies are the key to ensuring the long-term competitiveness of products, in the most cost-effective way and without compromising quality or safety. This Special Issue Advances in Precision Manufacturing and Instrumentation Technologies will provide an overview of existing knowledge on new approaches for precision manufacturing and instrumentation technologies. Original research, theoretical and experimental work, case studies, and comprehensive review papers are invited for possible publication. Relevant topics to this Special Issue include but are not limited to the following subjects: New approaches for precision manufacturing processes Data-driven manufacturing strategies in precision manufacturing Opportunistic improvements in instrumentation technologies High-precision manufacturing and instrumentation for complex products High-precision specialized manufacturing and detection instruments
