RSS 2019 (Robotics: Science and Systems Conference) is an academic conference held in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany on 2019-06-22. The paper submission deadline is 2019-02-01. Acceptance notifications are sent on 2019-05-01.

The 2019 Robotics: Science and Systems Conference will bring together researchers working on all aspects of robotics including scientific foundations, applications, and analysis of robotic systems. We seek your best work in all areas of robotics and solicit papers that cover both the “Science” and the “Systems” of robotics. The conference will be single-track, and the final program will be the result of a thorough review process to give attendees an opportunity to see the most exciting research in all areas of robotics. Submissions will be evaluated in terms of their novelty, technical quality, significance, potential impact, and clarity. Selected papers will be invited for submission to special issues of prestigious Robotics journals. The program will include invited talks as well as oral and poster presentations of refereed papers. The three-day main session will be followed by two days of workshops and tutorials. Every effort is being made to keep the conference affordable, particularly for student attendees. This year, we are especially excited to showcase the following two themes via special sessions at the conference: Soft and Bio-Inspired Robotics: Additive Manufacturing; Automation at Micro-Nano Scales; Biological Cell Manipulation; Biologically-Inspired Robots; Biomimetics; Cellular and Modular Robots; Compliance and Impedance Control; Compliant Joint/Mechanism; Distributed Robot Systems; Flexible Robots; Force Control; Micro/Nano Robots; Model Learning for Control; Multi-Robot Systems; Nanomanufacturing; Natural Machine Motion; Passive Walking; Physical Human-Robot Interaction; Physically Assistive Devices; Robot Safety; Sensor Networks; Soft Material Robotics; Swarms; Underactuated Robots; Wearable Robots AI for Robotics: Agent-Based Systems; AI-Based Methods; Autonomous Agents; Behavior-Based Systems; Big Data in Robotics and Automation; Control Architectures and Programming; Deep Learning in Robotics and Automation; Human Detection and Tracking; Mobile Manipulation; Object Detection, Segmentation and Categorization; Reactive and Sensor-Based Planning; Semantic Scene Understanding; Software, Middleware and Programming Environments; Cognitive Human-Robot Interaction; Gesture, Posture and Facial Expressions; Learning and Adaptive Systems; Learning from Demonstration; Robot Companions; Social Human-Robot Interaction. Themes RSS is actively seeking papers in areas that have not been traditionally represented at the conference and will stay true to its name covering both the “Science” and the “Systems” of robotics.
