Aims & Scope Information and Computation welcomes original papers in all areas of theoretical computer science and computational applications of information theory. Survey articles of exceptional quality will also be considered. Special Issues

Special Issue on Foundations of Information and Knowledge Systems: Selected Papers from FoIKS 2026 투고 마감일: 2026-11-01 This special issue contains thoroughly revised and significantly extended versions of selected papers presented at the 14th International Symposium on Foundations of Information and Knowledge Systems (FoIKS 2026), which was held at the Leibnizhaus, Hanover, March 23–26, 2026. The FoIKS symposia provide a biennial forum for presenting and discussing theoretical and applied research on information and knowledge systems. The goal is to bring together researchers with an interest in this subject, share research experiences, promote collaboration, and identify new issues and directions for future research. Guest editors: Professor Anni-Yasmin Turhan, Paderborn University, Germany Dr. Jonni Virtema, University of Glasgow, UK Special issue information: The scope of the Special Issue includes works dealing with any foundational aspect of information and knowledge systems. This includes submissions that apply ideas, theories or methods from specific disciplines to information and knowledge systems. Examples of such disciplines are discrete mathematics, logic and algebra, model theory, information theory, (parameterized) complexity theory, algorithmics and computation, statistics, and optimisation, among, of course, many others. The suggested topics include, but are not limited to: - Mathematical Foundations of Information and Knowledge Systems: Discrete structures and algorithms, graphs, and formal languages. - Database Design and Management: Formal models, (in)dependencies and models of transactions, concurrency control. - Logics in Databases and AI: Classical and non-classical logics, logic programming, description logics, spatial and temporal logics, argumentation, probability logic, fuzzy logic. - Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Logical reasoning, Non-monotonic reasoning (reasoning under inconsistency), Reasoning under vagueness or uncertainty. - Foundations of neuro-symbolic reasoning: Embedding methods for structured information, such as knowledge graphs, mathematical expressions, grammars, logical theories. - Intelligent Agents: Multi-agent systems, autonomous agents, formal models of interactions, Boolean games, coalition formation, reputation systems, epistemic reasoning. - Knowledge Discovery and Information Retrieval: Machine learning, data mining, formal concept analysis and association rules, information extraction. - Security in Information and Knowledge Systems: Identity theft, privacy, trust, intrusion detection, access control, inference control, secure Web services, secure Semantic Web, risk management. - Mathematical Foundations: Discrete structures and algorithms, graphs, grammars, automata, abstract machines, finite model theory, information theory, coding theory, complexity theory, randomness - Security in Information and Knowledge Systems: Identity theft, privacy, trust, intrusion detection, access control, inference control, secure Web services, secure Semantic Web, risk management - Integrity and Constraint Management: Verification, validation, consistent query answering, and information cleaning. - Knowledge graphs and semi-structured Data: Data modelling, data processing, data compression, and data exchange. https://www.sciencedirect.com/special-issue/332505/foundations-of-information-and-knowledge-systems-selected-papers-from-foiks-2026
