Aims and scope

Cluster Computing: the Journal of Networks, Software Tools and Applications will provide a forum for presenting the latest research and technology that unify the fields of parallel processing, distributed computing systems and high performance computer networks. The current advances in computing, networking technology and software have spurred a lot of research interest in cluster and internet computing, as demonstrated in Cloud and Grid computing, and distributed high performance data centers.

In the last few years, we have seen an increased interest in developing applications, software tools, communications protocols and high performance data centers, Grids and cloud computing sites to capitalize on these advances and initiatives. Publications about these developments currently appear in several journals that either focus on the communications field, or on parallel and distributed computing with a strong emphasis on the parallel algorithms. Cluster Computing Journal will uniquely address the latest results in integrating these three fields to support the development of high performance parallel distributed computing systems and their applications. The journal will be an important source of information for the growing number of researchers, developers and users of High Performance Parallel and Distributed Computing environments. In these environments, parallel and/or distributed computing techniques are applied to the solution of large-scale scientific and engineering applications running on clusters, cloud computing and/or distributed data centers.

Special Issue on Advancements in Service-Oriented Software 2024

The aim of the special issue is to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to showcase their work and share their experiences on the application of service-oriented software in various domains. The special issue aims to cover a wide range of topics related to the practical applications of microservices, service orientation, and cloud computing.

Submission Guidelines:
Authors should prepare their manuscript according to the Instructions for Authors available from the Cluster Computing website. Authors should submit through the online submission site at Cluster Computing  and select “Advancements in Service-Oriented Software" when they reach the “Article Type” step in the submission process. Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the special issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least three independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Please note that the authors of selected papers presented at IEEE SOSE 2024 are invited to submit an extended version of their contributions by taking into consideration both the reviewers’ comments on their conference paper, and the feedback received during presentation at the conference. It is worth clarifying that the extended version is expected to contain a substantial scientific contribution, e.g., in the form of new algorithms, experiments or qualitative/quantitative comparisons, and that neither verbatim transfer of large parts of the conference paper nor reproduction of already published figures will be tolerated. The extended versions of IEEE SOSE 2024 papers will undergo the standard, rigorous journal review process and be accepted only if well-suited to the topic of this special issue and meeting the scientific level of the journal. Final decisions on all papers are made by the Editor in Chief.
