As a companion journal to Telematics and Informatics, Telematics and Informatics Reports is a forum for theoretical, methodological, and practical innovative research - including use intention - on the health, economic, social, and political scale.

While Telematics and Informatics Reports is broad in scope and crosses multiple disciplines, the journal's primary research areas are subject to (but not limited to):

    Health informatics
Information security and privacy (mobile banking, online shopping, etc.)
    Blockchain
Mobile and wireless communications and applications
    Digital media culture communication
    Psychosocial effects of social media
    Network public opinion
    Digital platforms
    Smart cities and society
    E-governance
    Knowledge management

The Journal favors original research papers and short communications but will also take into consideration reviews on previous studies, software, and more.

Telematics and Informatics Reports serves as an international outlet for information and data scientists but welcomes those from other disciplines as well that can contribute to the rapidly growing research that surrounds today's digital technologies and their impacts.

Special Issue on The Double-Edged Sword: How New Technologies Shape Online Moral Behaviors
Submission Date: 2026-06-30

Emerging technologies—from AI and social media algorithms to the metaverse and blockchain—are transforming how people interact, collaborate, and conflict in digital spaces. While these innovations enable unprecedented prosocial behaviors (e.g., crowdsourced humanitarian aid, digital volunteering, AI-driven mental health support), they also amplify antisocial acts (e.g., cyberbullying, disinformation, algorithmic bias). This special issue explores the dual role of technology in fostering or mitigating online moral behaviors, with a focus on interdisciplinary perspectives spanning information, communication and psychology science. Guest editor: Prof. Wu Li School of Media and Communication, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China Fields of interest: Media psychology; Information behavior; Moral behavior in online environment Special issue information: Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: The role of generative AI in disinformation dissemination and recognition Impact of generative AI-driven automated reviews on online prosocial and antisocial behaviors How blockchain technology fosters trust in online interactions The influence of the Metaverse on prosocial and antisocial behaviors in virtual spaces Mechanisms of virtual community belonging and their connection to online prosocial motivations The impact of gamification design on online prosocial and antisocial behaviors The role of large language models (LLMs) in shaping online prosocial and antisocial behaviors How algorithmic recommendations contribute to or deter antisocial behaviors (e.g., online hate speech, trolling) The privacy paradox: how big data influences social media user privacy The enabling and limiting effects of AI chatbots on online behavior Ethical design of AI systems to promote online prosocial behaviors The role of social bots in facilitating or hindering online prosocial behaviors Network identity anonymity and its effect on online prosocial and antisocial behaviors Intervention strategies for addressing antisocial behaviors through algorithmic management Privacy invasion and ethical concerns in the context of new technologies Evolution of online prosocial and antisocial behaviors in Web 3.0 Psychological responses triggered by new technologies (e.g., loneliness, novelty) and their impact on online prosocial/antisocial behaviors Age and gender differences in online prosocial and antisocial behaviors with new technologies Convergent analysis of research methods, including neuroscience and big data We welcome theoretical, empirical and methodological contributions, including qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research. Comparative and cross-cultural studies are also highly encouraged. Manuscript submission information: Authors are required to submit their manuscripts online through the Submittion site for Telematics and Informatics Reports .
