Call For Papers
The aim of this interdisciplinary and international journal is to provide a forum for the exchange of original ideas, approaches, methods and experiences in the rapidly growing field of geographical information science (GIScience). It is intended to interest those who research fundamental and computational issues of geographic information as well as issues related to the design, implementation and use of geographical information for monitoring, prediction, and decision making. Published research covers innovations in GIScience and novel applications of GIScience in natural resources, social systems and the built environment, and relevant developments in computer science, cartography, surveying, geography and engineering in both developed and developing countries.

Average processing time from submission to decision is 8 weeks!

Since 2011, IJGIS has offered free colour pages to all its authors.

Special Issues
Special Issue on honour of Andrew Frank
Submission Date: 2017-04-30

Andrew Frank, who retired in September 2016 from his long-standing position at the Vienna University of Technology, had an extraordinary influence in shaping Geographic Information Science. His curiosity and wide spanning intellectual interest enriched the foundations of Geographic Information Science, and have helped shaping the discipline in many ways, for example by conceiving and shaping the Conference on Spatial Information Theory (COSIT), which will run in 2017 for the thirteenth time. International Journal of Geographical Information Science calls for contributions to a special issue in honour of Andrew Frank. We elicit two types of contributions: 1) Review articles studying the impact or place of research of Andrew Frank. 2) Regular research articles on topics of the authors‘ choice, which must be explicitly inspired by work of Andrew Frank. The special issue is particularly interested in a multidisciplinary reflection views from many disciplines, including databases, ontology, economy, law, cognitive science and linguistics covering in some ways the breadth of Andrew Frank's interests and thoughts.
