Job description

You will work within the scope of a research project that explores visual methods for estimation of position and orientation of autonomous drones in outdoor environments. A theme in the project is the use of terrain information in order to increase the reliability of the positioning. You will carry out a limited literature review followed by implementation and evaluation of methods for matching 3D point cloud data with topographic reference data for the purpose of estimating the position and orientation of a drone.

Qualifications

Requirements

    A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence.
    Good knowledge of computer science.
    Programming experience with Python or Java.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Preferred qualifications

    Competence in the subject matter and relevant professional experience.
    Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.
    Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
    Experience with the use of digital surface models from LiDAR or stereo matching.
    Experience with visual odometry, such as SLAM. 

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
