Special Issue on Advances of Optimization and Artificial Intelligence in Municipal Waste Management Systems截稿日期: 2024-03-30Quick population growth, urbanization and economic development have eventuated in boosted waste generation in different countries worldwide. The growing amount of data being collected in Municipal Waste Management (MWM) systems as well as the convergence of different applications of technology are directing MWM related research towards new frontiers in efficiency and applicability. This trend leads to a particular chance and beneficial assurance for tackling various critical problems in MWM systems as well as engineering applications of optimization and Artificial Intelligence (AI). However, such an accomplishment is highly subject to the extent to which scholars and scientists can discover helpful tools and informative mechanisms outlining the miscellaneous datasets, as well as transform this knowledge into intelligent and applicable decisions. The capabilities of AI-based approaches in treating multidimensional and noisy data affirm the increment of AI application areas. Operations Research (OR) methods and AI tools have been widely applied to solve problems such as water and wastewater treatment, air pollution and groundwater contamination. In this regard, a lot of efforts have been made so far to utilize various techniques including, inter alia, Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Artificial Neural Networks (ANNS), optimization, Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM), computational intelligence and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The recent outbreak of COVID-19 has further underlined the significance of predictive tools, ML, data analytics, optimization method and computational intelligence in overcoming the challenges in healthcare waste management. Here, some of the formidable questions are as follows: “Can we employ predictive data analytics and optimization methods to predict the amount of waste generated in a day?”, “Are AI-based approaches sufficiently useful to forecast subsequent mutations?”, “Can AI and Internet-of-Things (IoT) provide an efficient MWM system?” or “Can we efficiently utilize ML and optimization tools to preserve MWM systems against collapsing?” This Special Issue (SI) tries to enable clear, fair and quick communication of research works representing the role of optimization and AI in MWM systems. The main emphasis is on the theoretical, methodological, or practical applications of different AI-based techniques. This SI seeks to spotlight how advances of optimization and AI tools can efficiently go through the sustainable development of MWM systems. Guest editors: Assist. Special Issue on Artificial Intelligence for High-Performance Computing systems截稿日期: 2024-06-15High-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly being used together to solve complex problems. On the one hand HPC can be used to accelerate the training and deployment of machine learning (ML) models on HPC systems, while AI can also be used to optimize the performance of HPC systems themselves.Designing and implementing algorithms efficiently exploiting such complex and heterogeneous systems opens numerous research challenges. The aim of the « AI for HPC systems » special issue is thus to collect works addressing those, including (but not limited to) AI algorithms on GPU, TPU, FPGA; AI for energy efficient HPC and Cloud systems; real world applications of AI on HPC systems.
